Levelland Receives Economic enhancement Grant Award

SOUTH PLAINS – A press conference will be held in Levelland, Texas on Tuesday, March 4th to announce a grant award aimed at assisting in rural business development in Hockley County.

The Hockley County Enterprise Facilitation Project, a division of WesTex Allied Communities Enterprise Facilitation, received a fifty-thousand dollar grant award to provide business recruitment outreach and assistance to potential entrepreneurs in Hockley County. The project will be administered by the Levelland Development Foundation and services will be provided by WesTex Allied Communities Enterprise Facilitation.

Focused on Hockley County business development through the provision of technical assistance to existing and/or prospective rural entrepreneurs, business owners and managers, the primary type of technical assistance that will be offered is management coaching and has been designed to support community residents, create jobs, facilitate the creation of new businesses and educate and recruit individuals with the passion and skill to become a successful entrepreneur.

Residents of the Cities of Anton, Levelland, Opdyke West, Ropesville, Smyer, Sundown and Whiteface will have local access to business counseling and planning services.

The project is supported by State Representatives Carl Isett, Delwin Jones and Warren Chisum, State Senator Robert Duncan and U.S. Congressman Randy Neugebauer. Major contributors to the project are the City of Anton, Levelland Economic Development Corp., Sundown Economic Development Corp, Wes-Tex RC&D and WorkSource of the South Plains.
